Jenny O'Neal attended the Culinary School of Washington in 1980. In 1982, she started her first pastry chef job, A Piece of Cake, in Georgetown, Washington, DC. Her 40 year career includes stints as a private chef to Eunice and Sargent Kennedy Shriver; she was a partner at the Backstreet Cafe in Middlebury, Virginia; and founded the Artisan of Grand Haven in Grand Haven, Michigan. She relocated to Asheville, NC where she opened the Northstar Bakehouse in 2017. Jenny was born in Ipswich England, and continues to carry on traditional British recipes such as sausage rolls, bakewell tarts, scones, and Cornish meat pies.
Sharon Gonzales brings a strong background in creativity and design as she attended the Savannah College of Art and Design. The story of Sharon's employment at North Star Bakehouse is as follows: One Saturday morning in October a woman walked into NorthStar Bakehouse with a lattice topped pie. There was a piece missing. The woman said, "I want a job here, this is my resume." The rest is history. You can find Sharon's work both in the gallery and at the NorthStar Bakehouse.
